New Jersey LBI Beach Haven The Lucy Evelyn
The tree masted schooner Lucy Evelyn was towed from Maine for use as a gift shop on Long Beach Island. Before she could reach her final destination in Beach Haven she had to get through Barnegat Bay. In this pencil sketch she sits anchored in the bay awaiting a storm surge to get over the last sand bar. In 1947 she finally was moored in Beach Haven where she served as a floating gift shop until burning to the water line in 1972.
