St. Elizabeth Academy was founded in 1860 as a school for girls by the Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth. This scene from 1880 shows the motherhouse and academy as seen from the train station. The nuns built the train station in order to persuade the railroad to stop here. Hence it's name Convent Station. St. Elisabeth College came later in 1899, and is still in operation today, as is the academy and the train station.
