Pencil Sketch Artist Joe Orsag has captured the detail of one of the first American Battleships the USS Oregon, in the artful sketch. The Oregon was authorized in 1890 and played a major role in the Battle of Santiago in the Spanish American War. Her 67 day trip from the Pacific to the Atlantic through the Straights of Magellan drove home the need for the Panama Canal. She also saw duty during WWI and WWII. She was scraped in Japan in 1956, but her mast has been preserved and can currently be seen on the Portland, Oregon waterfront.
