Resting and eating in 1840.
The Old Stone Hotel and the Old Stone Barn were built about 1840 just off the square in Vealtown (now known as Bernardsville). Not only did the hotel afford visitors a good meal and a nights lodging, but the barn offered the needed accommodations for the horses and wagons.. The barn served as Bernardsville's first fire station. The Old Stone Hotel has recently been renovated and has reopened as Equus a very upscale restaurant.
