Lindbergh baby trial took place here.
Pencil sketch artist Joe Orsag has captured the feeling of Flemington in this art print of Main Street. Flemington, the county seat of Hunterdon County, has always been an agricultural center. It is famous for the trial of Bruno Hauptman, found guilty in 1935 of the kidnapping and murder of Charles Lingbergh's baby boy. In this sketch you will see the courthouse, where the trial was held, on the right. On the left is the Union Hotel where the jury was sequestered and many of the journalists were housed during the trial.
