A vintage view of Brown's Grand View Lodge c 1940. This is where travelers found a place to refresh on the new US Route 202, which linked New England to Pennsylvania (at Lambertville). In Mahwah the highway shared the Valley Road, a three mile stretch shaded by maples and dotted with pine trees and views overlooking the Ramapo River Valley. This stop was located at the New York State border and offered automobile travelers gas,phone, food and lodging.
