First settled in the early 1700's, Caldwell did not come into it's own until the 1800's and the construction of the "big road", as Bloomfield Avenue was known. Here we see the "big road" at the turn of the 20th Century. At the timje Caldwell was still a vacation spot, known as the Denver of the East. Today Bloomfield Avenue is stfill the main road in town.
