In this vintage view we see the Allenhurst Club in Allenhurst, New Jersey c 1910. With Allehurst we see the development of rural areas into suburbs of New York City. In 1895 the Allen farm was bought by the Coast Land Improvement Company in order to build an exclusive resort community to attract upper class summer residents. The rail line was near and made it perfect for allowing New York residents access to the New Jersey shore area. The Allenhurst Club recreational facility, has attracted residents and visitors during the summer months for generations.
